Kim gets a babysitter, of course! I should have added to the previous post, that while Reed was away, one of our dear friends that have taken care of our every need, was sure to take Kim out for the afternoon with Eliot and then to a lovely dinner in the evening. This post is quite delayed, as we have been traveling for the past 5 days and internet was too poor to publish…and oh do we have more pics to come…of Prague and Berlin!!
We started with a little hike around this lake in Germany. The sun struggled to join.

An old monastery sits on the lake, dates back to 1147!
It is the former collegiate church of the Augustinian canons Köglwörth, which is now apparently owned by a brewery. There is some kind of theme here, because one of our favorite breweries in Salzburg is owned by a monastery, see here.

So, after our hike, we drove to the absolutely most lovely restaurant I have yet visited on this trip.
Strobl Alm- an historic old restaurant at the top of a hill.
We drove past handfuls of mountain bikers who ride to the top (a lovely workout, and apparently there are off-roading trails nearby. oh, how I ache to do that!!) and refreshed themselves at the top. INCREDIBLE VIEW!!

The house is so old, when it was built no one died in the process. So, they built a chapel in thankfulness.
Dörte bought us wine spritzers and Eliot got an ice cream, or ‘Eis’ in German.

He got the same bee on our boat ride to St. Wolfgang, turns out it is a traditional bee character of Germany! Maya the bee (Die Biene Maja) was a German book from 1912 written by Waldemar Bonsels.
So despite starting off the day getting pulled over by the German Police and being caught without our passports….pictures of the jail cell have been omitted….all in all, it was a wonderful day. Kim and Dörte ended with a lovely outdoor dinner with more views and a drink at the Stieglkeller in Old Town, a historic pub which has more amazing views of the town at night. Hopefully, pics of that to come later, when Reed returned from Rome and we got….another babysitter. 🙂 For pics from their website, click here.
