Castle Hellbrunn for a Love of Life!

Yes, another Castle!  We had a snowy weekend and without childcare, down hill skiing is still a no-go.  So, we continued on our tour de-Salzburg.

This castle, Schloss Hellbrunn, however is not a Fortress-type that overlooks Salzburg.  Instead, Hellbrunn Palace and the parks that surround it are the result of the passions of one man, Markus Sittikus, an archbishop of Salzburg.  He had the castle built in only 3 years (1613-1616) because it is said that he had a Love of Life. (Leben lieben!)   It is a beautiful palace with gardens and fountains.  Not just any fountains, but TRICK fountains that would spray his guests unexpectedly.   Being winter and all, the fountains are not spraying, so I will include some pics of the walk around the palace with Eliot that we did on Sunday.  I sure hope to return in the spring to get the whole picture.

I am hoping this cleans up a bit by spring, but this appears to be some sort of 17th century spa

By the end, poor-natured Eliot refused to go a step further.

it is warm here, so wet snow makes good snowpeople.

Which melted by afternoon.

Who was clearly saddened by the afternoon snow melt.

The most recent state of our snowperson, however does not depict the moods of the Mize-Humphreys.  We are doing well and look forward to more challenges and adventures ahead.

Ciao!
